Another side.

In these times of modern age technology, all the stuff that technology gives greatly, for most of the people, affects us. We can't deny the fact that indeed technology made things a lot easier, made things simple. However, every coin has its two-sides.

Just a few nights, I saw a documentary in I-Witness that reveals the reality of what these technological advancements can do to us. The title of the documentary was "Adikaba.com". It showed the daily routine of 3 kids (who I can say are not so financially stable) playing computer games for a minimum of 10 hours a day (costing about 300+ Php). You wonder how those kids managed to play that long? Well, they have different ways of financing their so-called "bisyo". (Yes, they consider it as a vice - something that is a part of their system and cannot be taken out easily) The first boy was collecting trashes, the second was selling DVDs and the third was collecting money from his gay lover.

Really, it was surprising and alarming at the same time to see those kids striving to have some money just to play online games. Because of that, the I-Witness team decided to have them checked-up if they have a certain disorder. Based from the tests conducted at St. Lukes, they were positive in this Web Addiction. Not only their body suffers - having poor eyesight, ulcer, etc. , but also their individuality as a whole.

Here is a preview of the documentary:

Just be careful, the technology can have its sharp teeth upon us.
